Knots In Timber is Gavin O'Toole's first published work. It is a compilation of poetry and prose aimed to take note of the grotesquely beautiful world and the imagination it grants to its inhabitants. It is inspired by everyday life but reaches far beyond. Blending fiction with a common man's observations, the collection bends the laws of nature to speak on a cruel reality.

About The Author

Gavin O’Toole is a poet and writer from Greenwood, Indiana, whose work dances with the unsettling and the ordinary, the tender and the horrifying. His writing captures a contemporary romanticism: musical in its cadence, visceral in its imagery, yet sublime and haunted in its dreaming; it creates an experience that is at once disturbing, delightful, and strangely cheerful. His language veers from lyrical and intimate to jagged and hallucinatory - unflinching in allowing life’s contradictions to occupy the narrow space of just a page or two. Comfortable allowing life’s facets to exist together rather than neatly separating them, O’Toole sighs at the fringes of existence and raves at the ordinary rhythms of life, offering a voice both grounded in the earth and reaching into dream.
